This session focuses on Goodreads, a website that helps readers discover, organize, and share books, as an organizing system. Categorization and classification, as well as the site's ability to personalize its system are all addressed. The basic functions of Goodreads are noted, but the session's plan is focused on the 'Bookshelves' function. The primary learning objectives are to (1) Develop a custom list in the 'Bookshelf' section and (2) Identify how the 'Bookshelf' functions. A class pop-up poll is utilized to determine class familiarity with the system and to promote participation. Powerpoint slides are used throughout the session. A word search is provided for students to encourage class participation as well.
