This is a lesson plan and presentation on Libby, the free app that allows library patrons to borrow ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines with their library card.  The objectives are to describe the theory behind library organizing systems now in practice and to teach the various search techniques available on Libby. 

The presentation includes general information about Libby, how to get started, how to perform simple and advanced searches, and how to create tags.  The focus of the presentation is on use of Book Industry Standards and Communications (BISAC) subject headings to search for certain types of books.  With the new desktop version of Libby, www.libbyapp.com, it is easy to demonstrate a live BISAC search (letting the class determine the topic through an online poll).  This live search is then used to introduce curation through tagging of particular titles. 

Finally, the presentation gives an overview of the process of checking out, placing holds, listening/reading, and returning items, as well as setting out the pros and cons of using Libby.
