Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve

At Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve visitors can explore cinder cones, lava tubes, lava flows, and other volcanic features. Craters of the Moon is run by the National Park Service and offers a variety of educational programs for all ages as well as interpretive programs and a visitor center. Resource Chests available by mail or from area locations contain materials to help prepare pre-and post-trip lessons about the monument. These chests contain a Craters of the Moon video tape, other related videos, slide sets with scripts, maps, teachers' curriculum guides, rock specimens, and a number of other references and pamphlets. Available for download from the website are a photo glossary of volcanic terms and other geoscience educational materials, curriculum guides and resources for teachers, and information on the Jr. Ranger Program.
