1. Identify and understand the roles of the principal participants in an architectural building project.
2. Identify the types of contractual relationships that connect the various participants.
3. Understand the “scope” of responsibilities associated with each contractual relationship.
4. Understand the AIA document families- particularly A,B,C, and G.
5. Understand the components of the Contract Document Package: The Project Manual and the set of Construction Drawings.
6. Understand how the General Conditions affect the project process.
7. Understand how the Technical Specifications are structured and how they relate to the drawings.
8. Understand the document flow that occurs throughout the project work-RFPs, transmittals, submittals, RFIs, pay application requests, change order processes, schedule of values, etc.
9. Understand the role of non-principal, but vital second and third tier parties-building, fire, and systems inspectors, OSHA, insurers, financial entities, etc.
10. Understand the components of the Project Manual and their relationship to the Construction Drawings.
