The large presence of African players wearing the shirts of teams from European Union countries at the World Cup in Qatar put in contradiction the dual policies and the distinctive treatment that their compatriots suffer in the old continent. This paper examines the situation of immigrants, the fear of each vulnerable person who leaves their country and that of the stranger who receives them into their society, EU immigration policy and the hope for the future and integration using football as a model to highlight how immigrants enrich society and make a huge contribution, not only in sport, but also culturally, economically, and especially in humanitarian terms. Examples of particular situations for and against both realities are given, and a courageous approach is proposed to overcome the fragmentation suffered by immigrants and to overcome, as in football, racism, hatred and discrimination
Resumen: La gran presencia de jugadores africanos vistiendo las camisetas de selecciones de países pertenecientes a la Unión Europea en el Mundial de Qatar puso en contradicción las políticas duales y el tratamiento distintivo que sus connacionales sufren en el viejo continente. En este artículo, se examina la situación de los inmigrantes, el miedo propio de cada persona vulnerable que abandona su país y el del extraño que los recibe en su sociedad, la política de inmigración de la UE y la esperanza de futuro e integración tomando como modelo el fútbol para resaltar cómo los inmigrantes enriquecen la sociedad y realizan una enorme contribución, no solo deportiva, sino cultural, económica y especialmente humanitaria. Se citan ejemplos de situaciones particulares a favor y en contra de ambas realidades y se propone un enfoque valiente para superar la fragmentación que sufren los inmigrantes y vencer, como sucede en el fútbol, al racismo, al odio y a la discriminación.
