The RESPeCT Program (Reinvigorating Elementary Science through a Partnership with California Teachers) was a large-scale research study funded by the National Science Foundation (#1321242). Cal Poly Pomona’s Center for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching (CEMaST) partnered with Pomona Unified School District, and the nonprofit organization BSCS Science Learning, to provide professional development for classroom teachers and teacher leaders Kindergarten through 6th grade. Materials include K-6 classroom NGSS aligned science lesson modules and teacher leader PD resources. The program features best practices in professional development and is designed to help teachers:

• Deepen their understanding of core science concepts aligned to Next Generation Science Standards;
• Examine how students make sense of those concepts and commonly misunderstand them;
• Integrate Common Core State Standards for ELA and math into science lessons;
• Analyze, reflect and enhance teaching and learning, and;
• Deepen their understanding and experience engaging their peers in professional learning and collaboration.
