Thesis Builder & Online Outliner

This site is great for students who find it challenging to communicate what they want to say about a topic in a persuasive paper. All they need to do is respond to a few questions and the thesis builder will create a thesis statement based on their responses. (Note: This tool should only be used as a starting point for thesis development.)

The tool combines four separate sentences into one long sentence structure without regard for punctuation. The result is a "draft" text that follows a common academic argument thesis pattern, such as found in a five-paragraph essay. However, the resulting text does not include required capitalization or punctuation edits and may be difficult to read. Additionally, many college-level assignments require students to research a topic before developing a thoughtful opinion and to analyze other points of view or areas of disagreement. On the other hand, the tool could be useful during a tutor session, writing conference, or workshop setting.
