Hubble Telescope: Looking Deep
Since its launch in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has provided scientists with a vast amount of quality data and has contributed to a number of important discoveries. The Hubble Deep Field Image, one of its best known, shows some of the most distant, earliest, and faintest galaxies ever seen. This video segment shows how scientists aimed the Hubble Space Telescope into a dark, apparently featureless portion of the sky to create this amazing picture of the early universe. The segment is two minutes twenty-one seconds in length. A background essay and list of discussion questions are also provided.
