The �Hot Topics� section of this site focus on current events and issues in biology that are �receiving national attention.� Mad Cow Disease has remained a challenge to scientists and regulatory commissions since its discovery in 1986. This �Hot Topic� on Mad Cow Disease was compiled by Sonia Clayton, PhD, James Denk, MA, and Nancy Moreno, PhD, and contains a brief discussion of the how the disease effects cattle and humans, as well as prevention information.
