Monster 3-D Classroom Activity

In this lesson from Math Machines, students will use the SAM stepper motor robot to follow a path and fire a laser at several cutouts of monsters. In doing so, the class will "calculate angles in the XZ-coordinate plane so that the movement of both the robot (aligned along the Y-axis) and a pointer (aligned along the X-axis) will combine to aim the laser and shoot each monster as the robot passes it." A participant handout and facilitator notes are made available for download in DOC file format. A Link to a calculator program is also included.
