The step-by-step tutorial can be used by the classroom teacher to create his/her own customized templates for students to use in authoring their own books. The tutorial can also be used by students to enhance their technology literacy skills. Going through the tutorial will benefit users as they learn about some less well-known features of Microsoft’s PowerPoint software. The skill of being able to customize a template will permit users to change a premade PowerPoint template or create an original template from scratch. Customized templates allow users to very quickly and easily complete routine exercises. Using a customized template in the classroom allows even very young children to access the technology and use it without a lot of additional instruction. Teachers can use their instructional time to focus upon academic skills without having to spend instructional time to teach young students how to use the specific software. Directions written into the customized template and limitations created within the template allow users to simply click, type, and create.
