How a Speaker Works
Most loud speakers consist of a circular permanent magnet surrounding a freely moving coil. The coil is attached to a cone shaped diaphragm that is moved back and forth to produce accoustical waves (sound). In this tutorial, the circular magnet is cutaway so that visitors can observe how the speaker operates.
