Seabird and Forage Fish Research in Alaska

This site is an educational site that describes some of the research at the Alaska Biological Sciences Center. The rest of the ABSC site has short abstracts of the many different research projects carried out there. This subset has more of an educational focus with background information about the birds and the ecosystems along with many pictures. Here is how they describe the site, "Scientists and resource managers will find detailed scientific publications, reports, and newsletters on the 'Products' page. You may also find some useful links to seabirds and other marine web sites under 'Links'. For those who are new to marine biology in general or seabirds in particular, begin by exploring the 'Marine Habitat', 'Forage Fish', and 'Seabirds' pages. There we provide some basic information about marine animals and ecosystems in Alaska, with some details about methods of study. Within those pages look for specific examples of our research findings under the 'What we learned' icons. On the 'People Power' page, some of our research team introduce themselves and tell you how they got hooked on seabirds and fish. Volunteer information is here as well. On the 'Photo Gallery' page, you can browse the 'Picture of the Month' archives and read about field work that some of our colleagues participate in."
