Every semester, on-campus student tutors are provided with structured in-person tutor training. However, as the student tutors are expected to attend the weekly trainings, they must sacrifice personal time to attend the one-hour session. Lack of attendance to weekly trainings impedes work performance by missing opportunities for workplace development. The purpose of this instructional design project is to develop and evaluate a hybrid instructional module to train new and existing student assistants of The Learning Center at the University of Hawaii Maui College on tutoring and mentoring skills.
