This model addresses professional-level standards for the future fire and emergency services. The goal is to prepare people for forward-looking supervisory/managerial and leadership responsibility and for third-party professional certifications. In the case of fire and EMS departments following the FESHE model, this program is increasingly becoming necessary for hiring and promotion. The model targets the professional needs of fire, hazmat, EMS, disaster and emergency management, homeland security, and the allied services of public information and education, fire prevention, arson investigation, etc.
