This document contains a simple analogy that educators can utilize to explain and improve their students' understanding of how to write an essay or speech when they are first introduced. An essay's (or speech's) three main parts are described and related to part of the "movie process" from an audience member perspective. There are also italicized parts that are little reminders given to students to assist with their comprehension and development of their writing skills.
