The Gulls Road is a story of love that lasts. What we won’t learn from this story by the successful novelist Willa Cather is that she spent the last 39 years of her life with her domestic partner, Edith Lewis, before being diagnosed with breast cancer and dying of a cerebral hemorrhage. Cather and Lewis are buried together in Jaffrey, New Hampshire.This personal fact should make us more aware of how love transcends the hard facts of culture, and makes love the important code of life.
