Many people believe what they are taught until they learn the wide range of what others believe.  F. Scott Fitzgerald  was one such soul.  He was raised Catholic, but changed as he aged. I, too, believe like this famous author of the Great Gatsby. His evolution of faith to agnosticism can be seen in his story of Absolution.
