Microbial Art

Some bacteria can form colonies that produce colorful pigments. Bacteria produce pigments for protection and energy production. Microbial art blends science and art by ‘painting’ with pigment-producing bacteria. Students practice common microbiology techniques (such as aseptic practices and culture growth conditions) while creating artwork.
