This OER textbook has been designed for students to learn the foundational concepts for English 100 (first-year college composition). The content aligns to learning outcomes across all campuses in the University of Hawaii system. 

It covers all the topics one could use to teach an English 100 course. It describes in detail what students need to be successful, lays out the writing process, details the different kinds of essays students write, provides tons of examples, describes researching and citing sources, and ends with three appendices which provide more insight into place- and culture-based learning, more assignments, and more resources.
