This article mainly focuses on the causes of mesothelioma in children and young adults. Although there is no clear cause for mesothelioma in young people, there are possible causes that contribute to the formation of this cancer. Some of the possible causes include, exposure to asbestos in products, the environment or through a family member, radiation exposure, including radiation therapy for other cancers, in utero exposure to the antibiotic isoniazid and genetic predisposition to mesothelioma. This article also specifically highlights how it is possible to find asbestos in homes and schools which is a speculating cause of mesothelioma in children. Lastly, this article is especially unique as it includes different stories of mesothelioma in youth.
