Microbots are often used to deliver drugs for chemotherapy, and they are normally made of synthetic organic matter. Using biohybrid microbots made of green algae, which can swim with flagella, has advantages in getting drugs to the lungs such as being able to move on their own and being less toxic to humans than other organisms. They then coat the microbots with red blood cell membranes so the immune system does not attack them. The microbots contain a drug that they can deliver to the lungs affected by cancer or another disease. The body can then break down the microbots into non-toxic waste.
