These low-cost texts are being utilized in an English course for undergraduate students by Dr. Kate Simonian at CSUSB. The open resources include links to PDFs of stories, stories published online, teacher-generated worksheets, student texts, and writing websites. The main motivation to adopt these low-cost materials was saving students money and increasing the likelihood of students doing the readings. Students accessed the resources through the Canvas course page.

The California State University and MERLOT have partnered to showcase how and why faculty have adopted Open Educational Resources (OER) to facilitate equitable access to their students’ course materials. This Faculty Showcase represent Open Educational Practices where faculty are sharing their "know-how" for adopting OER in their courses.
