The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is a specific type of research that seeks to use discovery, reflection, and evidence-based research to investigate teaching methods and student learning outcomes.  RESEARCH BITES is an ASYNCHRONOUS series of videos designed to assist faculty in developing SoTL projects. The videos are topical allowing faculty to pick and choose based on their SoTL needs as they are working on research alongside their own teaching practice. The idea behind RESEARCH BITES is to take the “OVERWHELMING” out of the SoTL research and break it down into little “BITES”. Faculty may choose to follow the videos in sequence -or- pick and choose as needed. Research can seem intimidating…but with RESEARCH BITES, faculty have the opportunity to approach research “one bite at a time”.  

Faculty are busy, and have limited time to conduct research, but with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning; faculty can engage in scholarship alongside their teaching practice. In this episode of Research Bites, we explore "Choosing a SoTL Topic", and unpack "the WHAT, the WHY, and the WHY NOT" of choosing a SoTL topic.
