·       It was proposed that the eBook would consist of early literature available in the public domain; links to literary pieces from later periods and contemporary articles published in scholarly journals such, accessible through GALILEO databases; links to content provided by a variety of nonprofit digital publishers, including Poetry Foundation and Electric Literature; documentaries available from Films on Demand, one of the databases accessible through GALILEO. It was also proposed that original videos about criticism and theory, literary movements, and major writers would be embedded in the eBook.  These goals have been achieved, and the latter exists in the form of a student podcast entitled “Key Topics in African American Literature.”

·       There have been significant transformative impacts to instruction. The instructor can navigate through the textbook in less time through the use of search terms, copy and paste excerpts from readings that are relevant to a particular lesson, and choose segments of videos and interactive media for assignments.  All such materials are compatible with the learning management system.

·       The transformative impacts on students is that they are reading more.  When students read more, they are prepared to participate in online and in-class discussions.  In the online activities, it is possible for students to annotate the text that is being discussed.  Overall, there has been an increase in engagement.
