The purpose of this activity is to allow students an opportunity to independently review data visualizations (such as graphs) we might see in mainstream media. The activity will allow students to gain the following: 1) a critical eye for how data visualizations can be misleading, and by default, 2) an understanding of the aspects of data visualization that they see as important when producing statistics and statistical visualizations. In the context of this course, this activity will help students begin to explore and get comfortable with seeing and interpreting data visualizations.
