PowerNotes is the first tool designed specifically for writing in a digital environment to prompt writers to annotate, check sources, and gather, track, and organize their digital research. It eliminates the need to copy and paste digital material (open web, journals, library databases, PDF), and features a new sharing/commenting feature so faculty & peers have some insight into the research and writing process before work is submitted. Teaching synthesis is the sweet spot of trying to teach research. PowerNotes is the first application that guides students to read and analyze what they find; track and organize what they find; and then especially, synthesize what they have learned.
