I used Cofounders of the North online game by SMU the first time in my strategic management classes in this term when I and students need to have online teaching and learning. I reckon that the students might be thinking, "I'm so bored...I can't seem to pay attention...I don't even know this professor...I thought university was gonna be different...This is not learning!" I was also wondering how the students and I could adjust to such new normal of teaching and learning. After some efforts of internet search, I've found the online game, Cofounders of the North designed by SMU. While such gamified tool helps illustrate several strategic management concepts effectively, it motivates all the students to participate actively in an online environment. There was a lot of fun. I also made a remark to the students that they can now leverage their online game playing skills with their learning. And finally, I need to express my gratitude to the SMU staff, who are extremely responsive and helpful. Especially, Bernie assisted me a lot, regarding the set-up, briefing and throughout the students' playing sessions. I strongly recommend this game to other instructors.
