Scryfall is an organizing system that uses simple searches, advanced searches, syntax, all sets, and random card searches in order to aid in inquiries submitted by users in order to look for different Magic: The Gathering cards. These searches will result in a gallery of cards being displayed. The simple searches focus largely on matching text within a card name. Advanced searches allow for inputing into different search boxes the various elements of MTG cards. Syntax allows for a similar search to the advanced searches, but done so by the individual user rather than the database itself. The all sets search displays all the current up to date sets of MTG cards, and from there has links to card galleries displaying all the different cards within the particular set. The random card feature when clicked will take the user to the page of a random card within the entirety of mtg. In the presentation, we described the background of magic the gathering and introduced the Scryfall database system. From there, the different elements of a magic card were taught in order to make the activity and screencast more understandable. The actiivty and screencast were to teach a user of the database how to perform searches for a particular playstyle known as the Commander format. At the end, we have discussion questions listed to try and facilite engagement with the class.
