Narrated multi-media presentation (Prezi) explaining why it's worth it for a reader to take the time to identify the topic of a reading. The presentation makes the point by comparing the brain to a filing cabinet that stores the information you read. This is intended for students building active reading and study reading skill. This is an introductory piece for a unit in which students learn to identify and organize the topic, main idea, and major and minor supporting details of a reading in visual study tools (aka graphic organizers).
