Life and art of Alexander Benua (Alexander Benois), a famous Russian artist,writer, and art critic,  known well for his book illustrations and ballet set  designs. His influence of 20th century art is huge.

It's a very extensive site with a lot of references, samples of his writings and drawings.

The site is further connected to other biographies.

It will take some time to go through everything; there are a lot of illustrations, excerpts from letters,  and various memoirs.

This site also has a dictionary to help readers review the unfamiliar art terminology.

Some things on the site (site map), need to be corrected, however, for an advanced Russian student who's also interested in art, this is an excellent resource not to be missed.
