This free and open online course in General Biology (with Lab) was produced by the WA State Board for Community & Technical Colleges [http://sbctc.edu/].
General Biology is intended to leave the student with an integrated view of the living world including the nature of sciences, evolution of biological organization, composition and organization of living substances, metabolism, control, reproduction, heredity and ecological relationships. This class meets the A.A. degree lab science requirement.
The course will be taught in a face-to-face setting, 4 hours in the laboratory and 3 hours in a non-lab setting each week. Although it will be taught face-to-face, this course will heavily integrate computers and some aspects of distance learning, primarily via ANGEL, a few biology web sites, and the library. Throughout the term, some of our face-to-face time may be substituted by online activities.
