Doctor offices used to have brochures for various diseases and sicknesses. Now days, it is common to see a flat screen monitor on the wall running all sorts of information. Students will create a wiki page for an assigned Genetic Disorder, that could run on this screen. Additionally, could be linked to the doctor’s website for patient inquiry. Students will be provided a rubric that outline project expectations and research will build upon previous content taught. Students will complete mini-research on 3 components (gene, protein and a brief description of the disease) as a "rough draft" prior to assembling their pages. They will present this in bulleted format and note the works cited. This will allow for a quick check of student understanding, allowing them to communication is in their own words and evaluation of the research source. Teacher will check/discuss with students about their track of research. Students will be tested on all material at the end.
