Course Highlights In this class, we will make a broad survey of the history of Spanish by reading various texts from the Latin vulgate to the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the modern age. We will look for the process of generating modern Spanish and the reasons for its development. Investigating the history and geography of the Spanish language will give us insight into various phenomena of the language, and the actual conditions of its geographical variations. This will increase our interest in the language itself and improve our use and understanding of Spanish. (See "Geography of Spanish").
