"Weed to Wonder" provides a variety of media (podcasts, animation, live-action videos and text) to introduce concepts such as genomic sequencing, hybridization and transposons.  While focusing primarily on the elucidation of the maize genome, the site provides accurate and thorough explanations of generalized sequencing techniques such as Sanger, BAC library construction, and capillary sequencing. Particularly useful is a "hands-on experiment" page in which educators will find lesson plans and information for in-class labs on Mendelian inheritance and detecting a transposon.
