Removing Barriers to Professional Development
The purpose of the project was to implement and eavluate a professional development model for online instructors that is integrated into the online course development process. In this model, the instructor works collaboratively with a course development team to develp their online instructional skills during the course development process. The model was developed to address the constraints of limited instructor time, the existing academic calendar, and accessibility by part-time faculty. The model includes a course development agreement that explicitly provides compensation and time for instructors to learn to teach and develop courses with learning technologies.
