NSA sponsors local area teacher workshops designed to encourage the learning of mathematics, the adoption of advanced teaching techniques, and the use of technology in the classroom. Teachers who participate in the Summer Institutes for Mathematics Teachers (SIMT) and the Summer Institutes for Elementary School Teachers (SIEST) write "learning units" (lesson plans) for classroom use which are designed in accordance with the http://www.nctm.org/">National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Standards. These units are offered as a teaching resource for mathematics teachers everywhere.
