Mayan Math

Mayan Math

This website explains the method the Mayans used in calculating their numbers. At first the subject can be confusing given that the math is depicted with lines and dots, but the website excels at breaking the lines and dots down, showing you exactly how to calculate what each group of symbols means, and how to add them together. It is possibly one of the better sites for understanding Mayan Math.... Show More

I have no doubt that this site has some very good information. I did not walk away fully confident about my understanding of the information; some things were not clear to me. Many of the graphics were helpful; a handful did not make sense. It wouldn't hurt the site to add more. I found the topic overall very interesting. I would have liked the author to elaborate on the defects of the Mayan system and how it compared to the math system being used in Europe at the time.

Technical Remarks:

The layout was easy to follow and there are some helpful graphics. I would have liked to see multiple examples to reinforce understanding.
Time spent reviewing site: approx 40-45 mins.
