Crash Course is a wonderful instructional video that explains various events in from world history, U.S. history, and literature.  It is very engaging and not too complicated for middle school students.  John Green, the narrator, is very knowledgeable about the subject matter, as well as witty.  The Crash Course World History series of videos span the beginning of civilization to globalization.  This is a very useful tool to help middle school students grasp the complicated concepts of world history while being aligned with state academic standards.
