In the following resource we can find relevant information about the appliance of big data assimilation to the development of different matter, all related to the discipline called geoscience. 

As an example we can find the design of a 2D representation model which can be applied to the assimilation of the data produced by a seism (the model simulates all the data produced, it is not to be applied on a real seism). This model is later expanded to a 3D variant which consists of a big step towards real field cases.

The study concludes this new kind of representation is extremely efficient in reducing the size of seismic data while preserving all relevant properties and matters to be studied properly.  With this we achieve a surprisingly reliable representation of this data achieving as well a significant estimation accuracy.
