Developing engagement activities for online courses can be challenging.  Discussion forums can be simple yet effective.  The key is developing an assessment tool (grading rubric) and guidelines to communicate the instructor's expectations and tips for maximizing points earned.

The discussion forum grading rubric and guidelines in this module are specific for Radiation Protection and Biology for students or faculty in radiation therapy or medical imaging.  However, these documents can be easily adapted for other courses and/or topics.
