Material Detail
Water, Water, Everywhere; and not a Drop to Drink!
In this activity, students will familiarize themselves with ground water terminology, learn how hazardous materials contaminate ground water, and interview a professional working on problems of ground water contamination. Working in groups, they will chose from a selection of ground water pollution sources (using a provided reference diagram), research them, and design a device or technique to prevent or clean up contamination from one of their chosen sources. Information obtained from the interviews with environmental professionals is used to help with this stage of the activity; students are encouraged to develop a specific sequence of questions (process strategy) in advance of the interview.
