Spanish and Mathematics

This website was created by Terry Mirande of Pierce College to have students use math as they learn Spanish. There are five projects available for educators to access. One addresses the metric system used in the Spanish-speaking world; another tackles the parallels between math and the Spanish language structure. There is a Mexican game of chance explained that will help students improve probability skills, and there is a student project involving el quipu an ancient Incan counting system using colored ropes and knots. In this project, students are asked to create their own quipu however this activity is provided only in Spanish, whereas the rest of the projects are available in both English and Spanish.
