The NanoEd Resource Portal, a �dynamic repository for information dissemination, research and collaborations among the community of nanoscale science and engineering education (NSEE) learners, teachers and researchers,� provides this introductory nanoscience activity. The �Size Matters� activity is centered on size, scale, and some of the �unusual properties of the nanoscale.� The activity is comprised of 5 lessons including: �Introduction,� �Size and Scale,� �Unique Properties at the Nanoscale,� �Tools of the Nanosciences,� and �Applications of Nanoscience.� Each lesson is designed to fit into a 50-minute class period, but they can also be condensed using the one-day version also provided on the site. Both teacher materials and student materials are included in this activity. You can download the entire activity in a PDF file or zip archive files. This is an excellent resource to provide your students with hands-on learning, and can be easily adapted to fit the needs of your classroom.
