In this statistics unit plan, three lessons guide students through solving the problem of a sick elephant by collecting, displaying, and analyzing data. The lesson plan requires students to create line plots for the amount of water the elephants drink, the amount of food they eat, and the amount of sleep they get. Then students have to compare the mode, median, and range of the data sets to determine why Elvis is sick. The unit plan includes pre-assessment, students worksheets, data cards, a summative assessment, and answer keys (all in PDF format).
