There are many different types of radio frequency identification technology. This article explains the difference between active and passive tags and between low-, high- and ultra-high frequency systems. The focus is on inventory management and control systems. I like the format of this article because it has links to terms that may not be familar such as inductive coupling. Best suited for a second year student with some electronics background. Good background reading for a class assignment.
