Managing Your Research Writing For Success: Passing The "Gate Keepers"

This article is aimed at academic researchers, as well as practitioners, who desire to be successful in publishing their work. Though it is intended mainly for those who wish to publish in peer-reviewed (e.g., refereed) academic journals, much of this article is also of value to individuals seeking publication in other outlets (e.g., trade publications, magazines). The goal here is to provide authors with practical guidance on how to enhance the odds of publishing success. Guidance offered is based on: (1) referee review data from a successful management journal, (2) insights from the Editor in Chief of this journal, and (3) key insights from the literature. A main theme which emerges from this article is that successful publishing is not difficult, if one takes a strategic approach. Target Audience: 2-4 Year College Faculty/Administrators
