Deaf Education is a pilot project that aims to settle a framework fo the creation of e-books for deaf students. Materials should be created to tackle the needs of the deaf community. For example, all material needs to be presented in sign language as supported by research. Visual input should lead the configuration of e-books.
The pilot expands the distinguishable Pressbook and H5P for Deaf inclusive learners. Open education website produces content related to Pressbook, H5P, and digital access text with the inclusive framework and benchmarks.. The research project undertakes several strands of inquiry in order to develop a proposed theoretical framework that would guide the creation of e-books with the Pressbooks platform. This study has three parts:
1) The development of the theoretical framework for the purpose of evaluating Pressbooks.
2) Application of the theoretical framework to an available e-book creation platform (Pressbooks)
3) Evaluation of the efficacy of Pressbooks in providing an OER in the form of e-books for deaf learners in alignment with the proposed theoretical framework.
The framework offers details on the implicationos of e-books for deaf learners. It deeply lays out why it is necessary to design e-books for the deaf students. It highlights how life feels for deaf people and why the attention of researchers and other experts will play a significan role on the design of learning materials for the deaf. Suggested uses:
