Welcome  – From the Editor

Welcome to the MERLOT Instructional Design and Technology Portal!

We are faculty, instructional designers, instructional technologists, learning technology coordinators, educational developers, trainers, and learning management system administrators.

You will help our community and resources grow by using and rating the materials you’ll find, creating bookmarks and exercises, and submitting additional materials for use by others. We want everyone to have access to open education!

  • Discover online learning materials, and connect with MERLOT members. Learn about journals, professional organizations, and news in your discipline. Browse materials on teaching and technology integration, including e-learning, blended learning, flipped classrooms, supporting teaching in the classroom, tools and tips, and adult learners. Find out more about AI, including ChatGPT, and strategies for use in class and work. Find out more about VR/XR  integration into education.
  • If you're trying to become an accessibility champion for your unit or institution, we also have digital accessibility resources for you. Perhaps, you would like to share your own.

Join MERLOT – it's free! As a member of MERLOT, you will contribute to this growing community of very dedicated people!

MERLOT prides itself on the peer reviews of material in our collection. Members can become peer reviewers! The commitment is 2 reviews per year. The peer review process for evaluating the teaching and learning resources in MERLOT follows a standard model and is led by the editors and editorial boards.

Visit our Peer Review Information page.  Please email the board's editor,  iknokh@umich.edu, with questions.

Warm Regards,

Irina Knokh
