ABOUT THE INNOVATION PROJECT:

MERLOT collaborates with innovative partners to help them develop, evaluate, and share outcomes from adopting innovative technologies.   Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and Arizona State University (ASU) have partnered in the development of courseware that engages learns in the STEM content by presenting contempory and relevant applications of the STEM curriculum.

CMU and ASU have invited MERLOT to participate in the early stages of evaluating the courseware as they continously work to improve the courseware.

SIX COURSES ARE THE FIRST PHASE!

CMU and ASU are delivering the following courses for you to review, evaluate, and/or pilot test.   Your expertise and feedback is required for the improvement of the courseware to achieve its student success goals.

  • Karen Johnson will follow up with you and arrange a time for your 1:1 session or provide you further background about the upcoming webinars

If 3 or more faculty in your department would like to participate, we can schedule a custom webinar for you.

Basics of Participation

There are a few ways to participate in the MERLOT INNOVATION PROJECT:

  1. Participate in a 1:1 session with a AL$ Courseware staff member and provide your feedback about courseware after a brief demonstration.   You would receive a $50 stipend for your participation in a 30 minute session.
  2. Participate in a webinar that demonstrates the features of the AL$ courseware and provide your feedback about the courseware. You would receive a $50 stipend for your participation in a 45 minute group session.
  3. After reviewing the AL$ courseware, if you’d like to adopt it for your course in the Summer 2025 or Fall 2025, you would receive a $1,000 stipend for teaching with the coursesware and, with CMU/ASU's support, evaluate the impact of the courseware on your students’ learning.   You would be part of a “community of research practices” that is planning research projects, presentations, and publications.
  4. After reviewing the AL$ courseware, if you and at least 2 other faculty in your department would like to adopt it for your course in the Summer 2025 or Fall 2025, your department would receive $8,000 for teaching with the courseware and, with CMU/ASU's support, evaluate the impact of the courseware on your students’ learning.

You can participate in activities 1 or 2 first and then decide to do activities 3 or 4.
